Kunming Changshui International Airport

Kunming Changshui International Airport (IATA: KMG) is the main airport serving the city of Kunming, the capital of China's Yunnan province. The airport is located in a mountainous area 24.5 km northeast of the city center, at an altitude of 2,100 m above sea level. The airport opened at 08:00 (UTC +8) on July 28, 2012, replacing the former Kunming Wujiaba International Airport, which was to be demolished. A gateway to Southeast and South Asia, the airport is also the hub of China Eastern Airlines, Kunming Airlines, Lucky Air, Sichuan Airlines and Ruili Airlines.

The new airport, which has two runways (versus Wujiaba has a single runway), hosted 33,027,694 passengers in 2014. It is expected to host 43 million passengers in 2020.

Transport

The airport is the last stop of Kunming Metro Line 6 and was opened on the same day as the airport. It is also connected to Kunming by a 13 km toll highway and State Highway S101.
