Darıca Faruk Yalçın Zoo is a zoo established in Darıca and has been in service since 1990. Among the zoos in Turkey, it is the ministry-approved zoo and has the highest number of animal species. Located among modern zoos, it is the first zoo to have full membership in the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
The animals in the garden are in danger of extinction. In this place, it is aimed for people and children to get to know animals and acquire a love for animals. Entry to the zoo is possible with a ticket. There is also the possibility of membership. In this way, members can visit the zoo whenever they want for 1 year. It is possible to visit the zoo between 11.00 and 18.00 all year round.

The zoo generally consists of 3 parts: animal shelters, facilities and botanical park. Animal shelters allow people to see animals and get to know them. There are more than 250 species of animals in the shelters, and people who enter the zoo by purchasing a ticket can have the opportunity to see these animals. The garden includes animal shelters and feeding areas, as well as a botanical park. There are more than 400 plant species in this park and over 8000 plants in total.
People can see the botanical park as well as animals. Apart from the botanical park and animal shelters, there are different places that guests can benefit from when visiting the facility. These places are the parking lot, prayer room, baby care room, safety room, playground and infirmary. There is also a wheelchair service for disabled people to visit the garden and other areas. The park also has two cafes and a kiosk for people to eat and buy drinks. There is also a store section where products are sold that people can buy when they want to take a souvenir from the zoo.

Activities Held at the Zoo

There are 3 types of activity opportunities at the zoo. These are botanical tour, children's birthday and a special day at fyzoo events. Those who want to participate in the botanical tour can see or get information about the plant species and varieties in the park. Children's birthday events are offered to people who want to celebrate their children's birthday in the park.
Within the scope of this event, food and drinks, park trips and playground activities are provided to those who attend the birthday party. Reservations are required 5 days in advance on the scheduled day of the birthday party. A Special Day at Fyzoo event includes watching and feeding animals, a park tour with a guide, a special menu for the day at the cafe, and surprise gifts. Those who prefer this event can participate with 5 people.

Animals in the Zoo

There are more than 250 species of animals in Faruk Yalçın Zoo. The number of animals in the garden is over 3000 thousand. These animals include endangered, endangered and critical animals. The animals in the zoo are in 5 groups: mammals, birds, reptiles, fish and invertebrates. Some of the mammals found in the garden are: zebra, reed cat, desert fox, pygmy hippo, agouti, jaguar, brown bear, donkey, red panda, meerkat, raccoon, leopard, wallaby, siamang, tapir, llama, kangaroo and chimpanzee.
Among the birds, there are goose, seagull, bald ibis, demolished crane, sacred ibis, bridal duck, silver pheasant, peacock, guinea fowl, hawk, black swan and gray parrot, etc. Among the reptiles, there are reptiles such as king python, Nile crocodile, ball python, green iguana, beaded lizard, crocodile snapping turtle, bearded dragon and milk snake. Among the invertebrate animals found in the garden, there are rock scorpion, giant bird-eating spider and tarantula species. Among the fish in the zoo, there are piranha, koi, pacu, Russian sturgeon, shingu ray, giant arapaima, kissing gourami, silverfish, astronaut and scavenger fish.
