Paradise Lost, one of the most influential and pioneering bands in metal music and the architects of gothic metal, is coming to Turkey with their album "Ascension," considered one of the most magnificent works of their career. The band will perform at Milyon Performance Hall in Ankara on November 16, 2026, as part of their Turkish tour.
The Pinnacle of a 35-Year Legacy: "Ascension"
Formed in Halifax in 1988, Paradise Lost, with their legendary 1991 album Gothic, laid the foundations for an entire genre and have sold over 2 million albums to date, becoming one of the biggest names in the metal world. Having shifted their style at various points in their career, from their doom-death roots to the magnificent sound of their mainstream-conquering Draconian Times, and even incorporating experimental electronic touches, the band solidified their position once again with Ascension, released in 2025.
Shaped by Gregor Mackintosh's signature melancholic melodies on guitar and Nick Holmes's wild yet clear vocals, this new album is a summary of the band's 35-year journey. "People should expect more sorrow from us," says Nick Holmes, summarizing the album's dark atmosphere and emphasizing that Ascension is a portrait of the struggle for upward mobility in life and the inevitable ends that accompany it.
A Darkness Growing on Stage
Described by critics as "a more magnificent, colder, and more dignified masterpiece," Ascension possesses a structure that grows not only in the studio but also on stage. At the concerts in Turkey, fans will have the chance to experience the album's most striking moments live, from the thundering riffs of "Serpent on the Cross" to the unforgettable melodies of "Silence Like The Grave" and the melancholic climaxes of "Lay A Wreath Upon The World."
The Ankara concert won't just feature new songs on the setlist. Ideological classics that defined the genre, such as "Say Just Words," "As I Die," and "One Second," will also be part of the captivating power of this darkness.
Get ready to get lost in the darkness and soar with the purest melancholy of music. Tickets for the November 16th Ankara Milyon Performance Hall concert are available at Bilet.com.
